Back in November, parents Jenny Smith and Greg Pedder from the MANDAID team met with Peter Bell from Batchwood Nightclub to bid for a grant from the Echo Trust.  The nightclub ist part of the Luminar Leisure group who fundraise throughout the year for the leisure industry's own charity, the Echo Trust, which sets out to "make an immediate and dramatic difference to the lives of young children accross the country".  The bid was for £5000 to equip CoolZone with new play equipment, social seating and some gadgets and gizmos (there's still much debate over whether it should be a Wii or an XBox Connect...) to make being at CoolZone even cooler for our over 8's after school.

In February we received the fantastic news that we had been awarded the full £5000 and yesterday (10th May), Ms Godfrey, Poppy, the CoolZoners and Jenny Smith were delighted to meet with Peter Bell from Batchwood, Simon Douglas (CEO Luminar Leisure) and Maxine Smith from the Echo Trust to receive the cheque.  Mandeville are the first school ever to receive a grant from the Echo Trust so this presentation was even more special for all those involved.

CoolZone are looking forward to inviting Peter and Simon back to show off how the money has been spent when the next stage of the building refurbishments are completed.
