Home Learning

Children cannot be educated in isolation. Parents are the school's most important partners in the education of children.  The value of sharing experiences, talking and learning together with children cannot be over-emphasised.

However, research has proven over time that homework has the greatest impact if it is used for practising what has already been learned in the classroom. Our homework is based on practising core skills: regular reading, investigating spelling and learning times tables. This principle is consistent throughout the school but applied at age appropriate levels.

On Thursday mornings we encourage all parents to come in to school and read with their children from 8.45 to 9.05. This shared reading session is greatly enjoyed by all the children.
