Summer School Fun
Thu 17 Oct 2013During the Summer Holidays 60 lucky children were given the opportunity to attend Mandeville’s Wonderful and Wacky Summer School.
The theme for this year’s summer school was Science with each day having a different theme such as "Orrible Science", Minibeasts and Circus Skills.
There were lots of trips and visitors arranged which gave them all lots to share upon their return to school in September. These included a farm visit to the school, a circus skills workshop and a dinosaur man.One of the highlights was a trip to Butterfly World where Creepy Crawlies were handed round for everyone to hold and butterflies chose many of our children as an exciting place to land!!
Every day the children all worked together in small groups to cook their own healthy lunches. Chocolate making proved great fun with lots of chocolate being eaten as well as made!!
Mrs Hayes ran action packed science workshops with themes such as "Orrible Science" where they learned all about the Human digestive system and our fantastic wild area provided a wonderful environment for the children to learn more about the fascinating world of minibeasts,
Thanks go once again to the Rotary Club of St Albans who helped fund all the exciting events .
Overall a fabulous time was had by both children and staff alike with everyone already looking forward to next year

Bugsy Malone is a Huge Success!
Fri 19 Jul 2013Years 4-6 production of Bugsy Malone took audiences by storm this week. The fabulous singing, fast-paced action, dazzling choreography and wonderful costumes left audiences cheering loudly. Well done to Mrs Cooper and everyone involved. It was simply brilliant to see so many of our children performing so confidently and clearly loving their moment in the limelight. We say a sad farewell to Mr Forbes this week, who is retiring after 13 years of bringing the joy of music to Mandeville. 'Thank-you for the Music, Mr Forbes'... We will miss you. -

The Shelter Box Appeal used the money to buy 2 Shelter boxes, containing shelters and emergency equipment. These boxes have now been deployed!!!! They have been sent to Nigeria where they are helping families devastated by the worst flooding in 50 years, which has forced many families to flee their homes.
For more information, see the Young ShelterBox website. www.youngshelterbox.org
(Our Box Numbers are 5349 and 5351. Once you have logged on to the site, type in the Box No. and press search. You will see Mandeville Primary School listed as a Box Donor. Press 'Track Your Box', on the left hand side of the screen. On the right hand side, under 'Get Tracking', you will need to select 'YSB UK' where it says 'Country'.
